Visitors, guests of other hotels and locals all feel at home at Hotel Schloss Wartenstein. Whether for a lunch, an ice cream in the afternoon, a post-work beer with the regulars, an aperitif in front of the open fire or in the Schlossbar or dinner in the Weitblick restaurant – a stunning conservatory which leads out on to a covered terrace – Reto Hofmann serves up fresh, seasonal and regional dishes that truly demonstrate his passion for cooking against the backdrop of a stunning mountain panorama.


Dining at the Weitblick restaurant is all about variety. Reto Hofmann’s cooking is young and fresh, while also incorporating regionality and tradition. Hofmann sets himself the challenge of making the guests truly feel at home with his cuisine. “We all have fond memories of home cooked food from our mothers or grandmothers – simple, but prepared with love”, the chef smiles. These are precisely the memories that he aims to evoke with his culinary creations at Hotel Schloss Wartenstein. He uses only the very finest ingredients, and prefers to source them locally wherever possible.

Although we often talk about cooking skills, in reality it is motivation and hard work that are crucial to impress guests. It is the challenge itself that motivates Reto Hofmann and his team. But to make good food, you need excellent products in addition to a passion for your work. Even the world’s best cook would struggle to create exquisite food without happy cows to provide the high-quality milk that is also used to produce butter and cream. The farmers also play a crucial role, taking care of the natural environment and working hard throughout the year, whatever the weather, to provide beef, veal, pork and chicken from animals that were raised naturally. And the final touch is added to the meals with herbs from the restaurant’s very own garden, which is lovingly tended to by Anja Remmert.
